This week I headed up north to the NEC in Birmingham to visit the Spring Fair, one of the UK’s largest trade show for home, interiors and gifting. Now I know these trade fairs tend to be big, but my god this place was massive. There were literally 20 large halls full of exhibitors and I had no idea where to even start to find the best products. So, it was lucky that interior designers and fellow bloggers 2LG were there to give me a tour of the best bits.
I really enjoy going to trade shows as you get to discover new brands and products that you would be hard-pressed to find out about otherwise. You cannot purchase the goods on display at the show individually, instead the customers here are established retailers who come to order in bulk.
So, what stalls did 2LG pick out with their expert designer eyes, and what products were my favourites?
Clarke & Clarke
I’ve recently discovered Clarke & Clarke after purchasing some of their fabric to reupholster my bedroom bench. They sell gorgeous, silky velvet for about £20 per metre (retail price), which is vastly good value considering similar quality fabrics and designs tend to be more the £40-60pm end.
At the Spring Fair the very beautiful and talented Emma J Shipley was there promoting her range of prints for the brand. Emma has created a collection of bold, colourful animal prints for Clarke & Clarke fabric and wallpapers, and her designs really stood out on the exhibitor stand.
Cozy Living Copenhagen
Danish brand Cozy Living, like fellow Danish brands Broste Copenhagen and Ferm Living, have that perfect knack of creating products in the most perfect shades of pink, purple and terracotta. Not in-your-face colours, nor boring colours, they just feel effortlessly calming and cool on their range of soft furnishings, candles and furniture.
I especially liked their range of velvet and brass clothes pegs and hooks:
By On Design
This stand wasn’t on the 2LG trail, but was one we stumbled across en route. By On Design did a lovely range of decorative balloons for the wall made from clay, and the cutest mini-pouffes, alongside more Abigail Ahern-style pottery:
If you missed the Spring Fair but quite fancied visiting for yourself, then no fear as the Autumn Fair will be held at the NEC in September.
* With thanks to the Spring Fair and 2LG who invited me to the Spring Fair as a guest.
