A Beautiful deVOL Fitted Kitchen With Yellow Shaker Cabinets

If you are searching for kitchen cabinet colour inspiration, look no further than these stylish yellow and aubergine shaker cabinets!

Sometimes, you just see those rooms where every element is perfect and you wouldn’t change a single thing. This London kitchen - designed and made by esteemed kitchen suppliers deVOL - is one of them. The select few images they had been releasing on social media instantly grabbed my attention due to the perfect choice of paint shades and traditional (yet modern) detailing.

Featuring a toned-down matt buttercup yellow on the cabinets and a brown-based aubergine on the central island, the colours were mixed exclusively for the owners by deVOL. The woodwork and the pantry are painted in Shaded White by Farrow & Ball and the walls are limewashed.

While this kitchen (designed by one of deVol’s senior kitchen designers) has all the key elements to make it a success (butler sink, Carrara marble worktops with a raised splashback, shaker cabinets and aged brass hardware), it is the balance of colours and tones that make it extra special. The dark wood surface of the island doesn't feel heavy as it is lifted by the sanded floors. The creamy whites in the room work well with the soft yellow, blending this shade into the room rather than having it dominate. It’s also not an obvious choice to pair yellow and aubergine together - but it works so well! Had this kitchen been painted in the ever-popular choices of dark navy blue or green for kitchen cabinetry, I don’t think it would have had half the charm that it now holds.

Another aspect of the design of this kitchen that I truly love is the inclusion of glass doors on the island, allowing you to see inside the unit (reminiscent of a vintage shop display counter). Paired with deVOL’s cupboard catches, it creates a really homely feel with traditional appeal. If you'd like to build a space like this as part of your own home, Design and Build London would be able to help you.
