Quick & Easy Folded Paper Scandi Bauble Christmas Decorations

These simple and easy tree decorations are quick to make and are a budget-friendly way to create some stylish Christmas decor with what you already have in the house. For these paper decorations, you can use an easily-foldable thin paper card, but I’ve actually used left-over wallpaper and pretty wallpaper samples that I’ve saved from past home decoration projects! Wallpaper has enough strength in it to really make a strong, non-flimsy decoration, and already comes with a lovely pattern printed on it (as opposed to a plain coloured card!)

All you need to make these papercraft baubles is a glue stick, ribbon, scissors, wallpaper, and a 3-inch craft punch. The 3-inch circular punch gives you a decent-sized bauble and you can buy it on Amazon.

Simply use your craft punch to punch out a number of perfectly-round wallpaper circles. I found that for a good bauble, you’ll need at least 10-12 circles. You can use the same wallpaper design or mix up your patterns. I found the baubles looked particularly effective using the same pattern for the bauble but mixing up the pattern in different colourways.

Fold your circles in half (pattern side down) and use your fingers to create a neat crease down the middle. Make sure that the fold is equal, as you do not want to see the plain underside of the paper once your baubles are assembled.

Using a good quality glue stick (such as a Pritt Stick), glue one entire side of a semi-circle and attach it to another. Keep going until you have at least 6 semi-circles neatly glued and affixed to one another.

Cut off a small loop of ribbon and use the Pritt Stick to glue it near the spine of the decoration.

Keep adding the rest of your semi-circles until your bauble feels full and almost completes a full circle, then glue together the two remaining edges.

Use your fingers to wiggle and secure your bauble together before the glue sets. Make sure you push together your semi-circles near the spine so everything is secure and doesn’t prize apart. At this point, you can also manoeuvre your ribbon to make it in a more central position so your bauble does not hang at an angle.

And that’s it! A super easy, kid-friendly way to create some beautiful and sustainable decorations this Christmas. For a video guide on creating these baubles, click here to view me making some on my Instagram page.
