Tile Trends: 5 key looks expected to be huge in 2026

As this year draws to a close, we can analyse the key interior design trends that shaped 2025 and consider how they will influence the design of our homes in 2026.
The natural movement of interior styles and consumer preferences mean that sought after colours, finishes and shapes within interiors as a whole tend to filter down into more permanent fixtures and fittings, such as tile design. For example, the recent popularity of checkerboard patterns and stripes has meant that we have started to see these pattern arrangements appear within trend-led bathroom and kitchen tiling schemes.
If you are looking to install new wall or floor tiles - both inside or outside of your home - in 2026, here are five top tiling looks expected to be huge for the year ahead:

Tile Drenching
Colour drenching - where one colour is used throughout the entire space - has continued to be a big interior trend throughout 2025. We even saw the inclusion of the ‘double drench’ - keeping to one colour via a spectrum of related tones - appear at the start of the year. Drenching a space using tiles is therefore a natural progression of this interior style, and tile drenching will be everywhere 2026 - especially in bathrooms, compact spaces like downstairs bathrooms and pantries, as well as in open plan areas.

The key to getting tile drenching right is to use the same colour or surface design pattern of tile within one space (on the walls and the floor, as well as in recessed areas like alcoves), and create more visual interest by using a variety of shapes and sizes of the same tile. Combine large scale tiles with smaller subway or hexagonal tiles of the same design, while also playing around with multiple application arrangements.
Luxury Italian tile manufacturers Casalgrande Padana offer all of their tile collections in a wide range of shapes and sizes, allowing you to tile drench without limitation. Their latest Concept Green collection of durable, low-maintenance porcelain stoneware also includes the option of raised detailing that can be combined with smooth surface tiles in the same collection for an interesting and appealing drench.

Soft browns, earthy tones and terracotta
Tobacco hues, deep chocolate browns and pigmented reds have dominated within furniture and homeware design in 2025. Moving into 2026, these cocooning yet sophisticated shades will automatically become a consumer tile preference, as these warm, earthy tones have an organic, timeless elegance, making them the perfect choice for a considered home.
Casalgrande Padana’s Terrae porcelain tile collection is available in six decorative and earthy colourways: Terrae Beige, Bianco, Caramel, Mattone, Tabacco and Tortora, and in a variety of sizes and tile thicknesses, including 20 mm with an anti-slip surface for outdoor patios, paths and walkways.
Composed of raw materials and manufactured in a sustainable manner in Italy, the fully recyclable Terre collection is as sympathetic to the earth as the natural pigments that it replicates.

Sculptural
Flat, sanitary surfaces are out in place of textural surface areas via 3D tile designs that offer depth and character. With a handcrafted look and an appealing tactility, wavy, fluted or reeded tiles elevate a space in a way that one dimensional surface areas are unable. Offering an extra layer of interest, a 3D tile embodies high-end luxury and can be used on its own, or combined along with other surface patterns to create a distinct focal point within a room.
Canneté Tiles are used in the recessed alcove shelving and are combined with Terrae Terrae Tortora large-scale tiles on the floor. Both Casalgrande Padana.
If you like the sound of a textural tile, use Casalgrande Padana’s latest Canneté collection to create a kitchen splashback, a detailed shower enclosure, or to add interest and detail within shelving areas.
Matt Finish
In the same way that glossy paint finishes have fallen out of favour and have been replaced with dead flat matts, there will be a leaning towards unpolished and non-reflective matt tile surfaces in 2026.
Matt tiles have a contemporary feel that work particularly well in modern design schemes (especially when tile drenching), as there is no bouncing of light that detracts from the surface pattern or colour.

Casalgrande Padana’s Lithos collection is available in a soft satin finish for a natural, matt look without any reflective sheen. Lithos was inspired by Portland Stone - a jagged rock located down in Dorset - and features soft, cloudy effects on the tiles surface.
Natural Stone Effects
Travertine, marble, alabaster and onyx are just some of the natural stone varieties that have been popular with interiors and home decor within 2025. The aesthetic appeal of natural stone can now be found on multiple items of furniture and homeware, such as tables, lamps and decorative trays.

The elegance and unique character of these organic materials have a timeless and classic quality, and in 2026 we will see a resurgence in consumer desire for natural stone wall and floor coverings.
While natural stone can look great on furniture and homeware items, it’s not a sensible choice for hard working areas due to its porous and high-maintenance nature that makes it scratch and stain easily. To overcome this, Casalgrande Padana have developed a wide range of innovative stone-effect tiles that replicate all of the organic markings, veins, colourings and effects of natural stone. Constructed from porcelain, the stone effect collections are durable, scratch-resistant, non-absorbant and can take the application of harsh cleaning agents.

Casalgarande Padana’s Pietra Tiburtina collection draws inspiration from the finest types of travertine in nature, featuring beautiful streaks and three-dimensional plays of light and shadows.
