Easy Autumn Door Wreath Idea for a Warm and Welcoming Home

I’ve been seeing a lot of autumnal door wreaths on my social media feed this month and they have totally inspired me to make my own.

After creating a large door arch for autumn last year, I just wanted something elegant and simple this year, and you can’t go wrong with seasonal door wreaths!

As this wreath is mostly fresh foliage and flowers, I needed to use a wet moss base so that it lasts. I used a simple copper wreath ring and gathered bunches of moss that I secured in place by winding around floristry wire.

I then layered up my base of foliage using mainly the following:

  • Pistache (a very affordable and voluptuous stems which cover the wreath base)

  • Dried oak leaves (you can pick them quite easily at this time of year from florists or flower markets)

  • Eucalyptus (try and source the eucalyptus with berries on rather than the single stems of leaves, which are a bit too rigid to use and suit Christmas more than autumn)

Interwoven with the real foliage, I used 4 faux stems from Dunelm that featured mini pumpkins on a wire. I just wound the wire around the base to secure the faux stems in place.

For the rest of the design, I secured in lilac wax flowers, red sprayed fern, brown dried grass, and a few toadstool picks that I purchased from The Works. To finish, I used a burnt orange ribbon (also from The Works) to create a bow and dovetailed the ends.

I’ve hung this on my door and I will be purchasing some pumpkins to just place as the base of the door to support the autumnal feel of the wreath!
