There’s been no shortage of the colour green featuring in a variety of the most alluring interior design styles in recent years. Starting with dark and strong jewel-toned emerald greens (which were especially popular within kitchen design), there was then a move to khaki, olive and leafy greens within living spaces when biophilic design trends peaked. Last year, sage green was the key colour that everyone was talking about and for 2025, matcha greens and more minty greens will lead the way.
As green has been so visibly predominant within the world of interiors, the hue can now be considered a timeless and classic shade for the home (rather than just being a trendy paint colour). Its enduring status has led to homeowners choosing the serene tones of green for permanent fixtures and fittings, such as green wall and floor tiles.
For 2025 and 2026, expect to see green tiles featured heavily within home decoration. Green tiles will be used in bathrooms for a soothing bathroom aesthetic and will prevail in kitchens as part of a splashback feature wall. You can also expect to see more green-tiled flooring (both inside and outside, like patio areas), intertwining nature with exterior design. Green tiles will also be popular for smaller interior projects like tiled fireplace hearths and surrounds, as well as upcycled table tops and furniture.

Why is green so popular?
Green - one of the colours most associated with the natural world - is an organic shade that has a tranquil and calming effect on our mood. The comforting appeal of green in the home is that it feels like it is bringing the outside in, creating a harmonious interior scheme similar to being outdoors and embraced by nature.
Instantly soothing, green also has the ability to be an interesting yet cosy shade. Unlike most neutral tones, green is a pigmented colour that creates a warm and inviting aesthetic full of visual interest. Green also has a wide palette spectrum - from yellow-tinted apple shades right through to sea-like bluey greens and deep black-based greens for dramatic effect.
This vast scale of green offers versatility within home decor, offering multiple options to reflect the personality of the owner.

Where can I use Green tiles in my home?
Green tiles are multifaceted, they can be used to colour-drench an entire bathroom space or used on one zoned area to create a striking feature. Leading Italian tile manufacturers Casalgrande Padana offer a wide range of green tiles available in multiple surface design patterns, shapes, sizes and finishes, allowing you to apply green tiles in your home without limitation. Green metro tiles or mosaics can be used as a wall covering in smaller areas of the home for a detailed application, while larger-scale tiles can be used for both interior and exterior walls and flooring, or, external facades with minimal grout lines.
What shade of green should I choose?
The depth of green you pick is ultimately down to personal preference, but there are a few things that you should consider first. Dark green tiles are elegant and dramatic and work well to create a luxurious space, such as a distinguished bathroom. However, as they command attention, you may want to only use them in a secluded area, such as a shower enclosure or in a wall niche. Lighter, sage green or pastel green tiles are less likely to dominate and can be used on multiple surfaces throughout one space, but you may want to consider a textured surface design or mixing up tile shapes or size formats to scale up the element of visual interest.

Casalgrande Padana’s new Concept Green collection of porcelain stoneware includes a ribbed surface pattern (a feature of Casalgrande Padana’s Canneté collection of raised detail tiles) that brings an extra layer of character and tactility to the cloudy sage green concrete-effect ceramic. These 3D 60 x 120 cm applications can be mixed with the flat-surface tiles from the same collection to create visually pleasing areas within the room, such as down the central area of a shower enclosure, or within recessed alcoves or shelving areas.
Alternatively, combining a variety of tile shapes or size formats within the same collection will elevate a softer green tile option. Try mixing up Casalgrande Padana’s Concept Green Esagono hexagonal or Mosaico Concept 5x5 with the larger-scale options for an attractive tile composition within a bathroom or kitchen area.
For an element of luxury, navigate towards green tiles that replicate the formations found within natural stone. Casalgrande Padana’s Marmoker marble-effect tiles duplicate the veining, shine and beautiful colour effects of natural marble; a green option is available via the Caribbean Green variation.

You could also use it singularly to encase and elevate a bath or a central kitchen island as a standalone statement.
What colours and materials pair well with green tiles?
Green can be considered a neutral due to its ability to work alongside and complement a range of tones, materials and textures. In a stylish, maximalist home, pink and green are the perfect pairing for a modern take with a pinch of vintage charm. For a more organic palette, combine greens with warm whites and neutral hues.
As a colour found widely in nature, green tiles work well alongside natural materials, such as wood, clay and stone. Combine green wall and floor tiles with tiles that replicate the natural grains, grooves and textured surfaces of these organic subjects.
Casalgrande Padana’s Project Wood and Era collections recreate the look and feel of real wood and stone through intricate surface detailing and for-like colourings, but the porcelain stoneware is practical, low-maintenance and durable thanks to advancements in the latest wall and floor tile technology. All of Casalgrande Padana’s ceramic tiles are non-porous and easy to clean, as well as not being susceptible to damage, decay or staining via condensation or harsh cleaning chemicals.
Can I use green tiles on the floor?
Yes! Why not? A base layer of green within an interior scheme makes for a striking design; thanks to Casalgrande Padana’s wide range of porcelain stoneware finishes, you can seamlessly blend the same interior tile design to your exterior. All of Casalgrande Padana’s green tile ranges are available as outdoor options simply by adding an anti-slip ‘Grip’ finish to the surface area, bringing the outside in by removing the floor boundaries. You can stick to one colourway, such as the strong-toned green of Casalgrande Padana’s R-Evolution Green concrete-effect tiles, or mix up square green tile floor slabs with a grey or another neutral tone to create an on-trend checkerboard effect.

Casalgrande Padana’s range of outdoor patio and garden tiles are practical, low-maintenance and durable and are available in size options of small (under 60cm), large (60-120cm) and slabs (120-240 cm), with thickness options starting at 6mm and going up to 20mm. For outdoor flooring, Casalgrande recommends their 20mm thick offering designed to withstand the impact of frost, excess moisture and harsh UV rays.
Choosing green tile layouts
There are a multitude of options when it comes to green tile layouts. Certain tile shapes, such as metro tiles, offer a multitude of interesting laying patterns, including brick bond, vertical stacked, herringbone patterns or weave designs. You can also mix up the colourways of metro tiles to create on-trend stripe patterns, or add detailing by using green tiles to create square or rectangular-shaped outlines within a plain-tiled surface area.

Measuring 8.25 x 25 cm, Caslagrande Padana’s Brickworks Nuances metro tiles have a contemporary design and are available as both a matt satin or in a glossy shine finish. There are eight colourways available, including a rich mint green and a deeper, green-based teal shade. Made solely from raw materials - making them fully recyclable and environmentally friendly - the Nuances collection is fire-resistant with a flexural strength, meaning they won’t warp with heat and are great to use in the kitchen and around a fireplace.
