Painting My Front Door Yellow: Discover The Best Yellow Paint Colours
As I mentioned in a recent post, I haven’t been writing much on the blog over the summer due to taking some time out to spend with family. However, I did get around to giving my front door a fresh lick of paint! I spruced up this door last year, but I wasn’t that enamoured with the colour, so I’d always planned to change it up again this year. This time, I wasn’t sure which shade to go for, so I decided to use a colour that would make me happy every time I returned home.
I’ve added quite a bit of yellow throughout the house in recent years, with the kitchen dresser painted in Yellow Pink by Little Greene, and a bathroom cabinet painted in India Yellow by Farrow & Ball. Both of them are so joyful to look at, so I decided to manoeuvre away from the typical blues and greens I’d always paint my front door in and go for a vivid yellow hue instead.
Yellow Pink by Little Greene in my dining room. This is a lovely sunshine yellow that makes this alcove pop.
India Yellow by Farrow & Ball in my bathroom. I love this yellow tone which has a rich pigmentation.
Graham & Brown has just released a collection of 83 exterior paint colours, so I ordered some peel-and-stick samples to try and find a colour that I thought might work for our period home. I definitely wanted a more golden yellow - feeling it was a bit more sophisticated than a sunshine yellow - so I selected the shade Turmeric, which has a golden tint.
As it has only been a year since I last painted my door, I just removed the hardware, filled in any required cracks and gave it a good sand down before giving the door three coats of paint.
This is the end result! It’s definitely a strong shade, but it feels really happy and inviting!
I have to say, I love repainting my front door because it’s an easy DIY that takes less than a day to do, but it can refresh the entire look of the front of the house.
Before I painted my front door yellow, I went on Pinterest to get some inspiration; here are some of my other favourite yellow paint shades:
