As the January sales come to an end, over the next few weeks we will see the release of new products from the spring/summer collections for 2020. This week I’ve decided to focus on the best new table and desk lamps becoming available to purchase. I’m incredibly partial to a good lamp - I have them dotted all around my home as I prefer their soft, atmospheric lighting as opposed to a glaring overhead light. Listed below are 5 new table lamps which have really caught my eye this season:

First up is the Vuelta Lamp By Ferm Living. A sculptural arc made from opal glass, this dimmable LED light achingly embodies many of the big trends for 2020 with its curved shape and ribbed detailing. More of a decorative accessory than a functional lamp - use it to lighten up shelving or place it on top of books as the perfect styling accessory. It’s not out until April, but you can pre-order it now for £179 from Monologue London. Like Ferm Living’s recently popular shell pot, I expect it will be a complete sell-out, so place your order fast.

John Lewis & Partners are becoming a bit of a hero for good lighting. Their in-house design team create very on-trend lighting which looks a lot more expensive than it is. There were two lamps which particularly caught my eye at their SS20 press show, both of which are now available to purchase online.

Tilt LED Marble Lamp by John Lewis & Partners

First up is this Tilt LED Marble Table Lamp which comes in either a black or a white colourway. This task lamp gives off a functional, bright light from the disc which can be tilted in any direction. The base is real marble and the brass finishing looks sleek and it comes in at what I think is an acceptable sum of £85.

Encompassing all the scallop shapes and the traditional look that I championed under the ‘Modern Traditional ‘trend highlighted for 2020, the Scallop Table Lamp by John Lewis & Partners has a very Soho House feel to it. The sculpted shade is made from cotton, with a lined finish to enhance a warm spread of light, so it would make a perfectly delicate bedside table lamp.

Matin Table Lamp by Hay Design

Launched at 3 Days Of Design last summer, the pleated-shade Matin table lamp by HAY Design is currently now widely available to purchase. Available in 6 colourways and two size options, I love this clever design so much I have already purchased one for myself (in a lavender colourway). Although it looks delicate, the lamp is surprisingly robust, with the pleated shade being made of lined cotton rather than paper card, which is what I expected at first glance. The LED light comes as a dimmer so you can project light at 3 different levels. Prices range with lamp size and supplier, but you can purchase all colours via Smallable.

Zara Home

Zara Home

Best budget-buy goes to this new Zara Home desk lamp for the cool price of £29.99. Simple but stylish, it ticks all the boxes for the perfect injection of light for the sideboard. I also like how if you position it facing forward, like in the image above, it’s quite thin, so it doesn’t take up a lot of space if there isn’t much available.
